The Waterfront welcomes Archaeologist, Historian, Author & Broadcaster Neil Oliver this November to talk about his new book – The Story of the British Isles in 100 places.

From windswept headlands to battlefields, ancient trees to magnificent cathedrals, each of these 100 destinations is a place where, somehow, the spirit of the past seems to linger. Beautifully written, Neil’s latest book is majestic, awe-inspiring, a kaleidoscope history of a place with a story like no other.

The tolerant, easy-going peace we enjoy has been hard-won and the places Neil’s seen have given him a unique view and understanding of British history. Hear in his amusing and entertaining way what it all means to him, and why we need to cherish and celebrate our wonderful countries.

Neil was born to love Great Britain.  During his 20 years travelling to every corner, and whilst filming BBC2’s Coast, he’s fallen in love all over again. From north to south, east to west it cradles astonishing beauty. The human story here is a million years old and counting.

See Neil on Wednesday 27 November, 7.30pm in the Floral Hall Ballroom. Tickets are available for £25 from Box Office on 033 33 44 5000 or book online at (Booking fee £1 online & phone & 1.50 at counter). Tickets available HERE!
